Insights Strategist

Austin, CA

Posted: 08/12/2026 Category: Market Research Job Number: 23982 Salary: 160,000

Job Description

Title: Insight Strategist
Location: Austin, TX (On-site)
Compensation: $150-170k + bonus
Contact: Lindsey Bartlett - lbartlett@smithhanley.com

Researcher. Strategist. Data storyteller. Client whisperer. AI enthusiast.

If a few of those describe you, keep reading.

We’re partnering with one of the fastest-growing AI-powered research platforms out there, and they’re hiring their first Insight Strategist in Austin.

This is not a “run the study, write the report, rinse and repeat” research role.

You’ll sit directly between customers, research, product, and technology — helping some seriously innovative companies figure out what their customers are saying, what it actually means, and most importantly… what they should do about it.

The company has built an AI-native research platform that conducts in-depth customer conversations, analyzes massive amounts of qualitative feedback, and turns it into decision-ready insights — in hours and days instead of weeks.

They’re growing FAST. Think major funding, Fortune 100 clients, millions of interviews already completed, and a product that is fundamentally changing how research gets done.

And now they’re building in Austin.

What You’ll Actually Do

You’ll become a strategic partner to product, research, marketing, and insights leaders — helping them get real business value out of the platform.

That means you’ll:

  • Dig into qualitative and quantitative data to find the story hiding underneath it.
  • Turn customer conversations into sharp insights, recommendations, dashboards, briefs, and presentations.
  • Help clients answer the bigger “so what?” — not just hand them findings.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and strategic conversations with customers.
  • Work with clients to think through research questions, business problems, and how they can use the platform differently.
  • Spot opportunities for customers to expand usage across teams and use cases.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to bring the customer voice back into the business.
  • Move quickly, experiment, and help build the playbook as the company scales.

Who We’re Looking For

Probably someone with 3–6+ years of experience across market research, consumer insights, strategy, research consulting, customer success, or something adjacent.

More importantly, you:

  • Know your way around both qual and quant.
  • Can look at a pile of data and figure out what actually matters.
  • Are a strong storyteller — decks, dashboards, presentations, executive conversations… all fair game.
  • Can comfortably talk research with a researcher and business strategy with an executive.
  • Actually like clients. (Important!)
  • Are curious about AI and excited about where research is heading.
  • Don't need a perfectly defined process before jumping in.
  • Like moving quickly and figuring things out along the way.
  • Have low ego, high curiosity, and zero interest in corporate politics.

Traditional agency researchers who want to get closer to strategy and technology? Yes.

Insights consultants who want to work with a product instead of living project-to-project? Also yes.

Customer success folks with legit research chops? Let’s talk.

Why This One Is Interesting
  • This isn't joining company #4,827 that suddenly added “AI” to its website.
  • This is an AI-native research company that has already raised significant funding, landed major enterprise customers, completed millions of customer interviews, and is scaling quickly.
  • You’d also be joining early enough to actually shape things.
  • The Austin team is new. The playbook is still being written. You’ll have real ownership, meaningful equity potential, and room to grow as the company grows.
  • Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible PTO, learning and wellness stipends, an AI tools budget, team events/offsites, and competitive compensation + equity.
