The Statistician will provide crucial quantitative contributions for Company's regular reports and briefings on China's politics and foreign policy as they relate to US-China relations and Indo-Pacific trends. Competitive candidates possess professional experience building datasets and creating data visualizations, statistical models, and applications in R. They should feel comfortable working in a small-team setting and in public speaking roles.

Statistician Qualifications are as follows:

-Proficiency in R, including the development of applications in Shiny and data visualization using ggplot2.
-Demonstrated knowledge of statistical and predictive modeling methods such as time series, factor analysis, and Hidden Markov models.
-Ability to create and analyze Bayesian belief networks and ordinal, logistic, Poisson, and/or negative binomial regressions with random effects or clustered standard errors.
-Familiarity with machine learning techniques and Bayesian inference.
-Skills in merging and cleaning data from different sources in various formats.
-Familiarity with global geopolitical events and the foreign policy of China. Ability to monitor the news cycle for events of interest.
-Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Statistician Education:

-PhD or Master's with at least one year of experience in quantitative social sciences, data science, or statistics.
